Hotel Guests Complain

In a recent article on HotelMotel.com complaints about the stay at a hotel are on the rise. Like me, you have been a guest at a hotel and many times and found the room unprepared or dirty, or the personal heating/air conditioning unit unable to reach a comfortable temperature, etc... The list of goes on and on.

The majority of complaints about stays in hotels concern the professionalism, or lack there of, of the staff. A lot of the time the first impression made at check-in was when some guests reported being treated rudely. Thin walls and noise pollution were also major complaints made by guests in their 40's and up.

Go Green!!

Green…Green….Green,
Seems like a great idea? Everyone seems to be getting the hang of the ECO-friendly trend. How does Orlando travel fit into the big picture? Everyone can contribute to a little part to save the earth. Just a contribution here and there can male a big difference on how the environment is affected. Here are some ways travel industry is taking on the green scene.

Vacationers can help by choosing eco friendly cars from a car rental company that provides hybrids. Think small. Do you really need the luxurious 8 passenger SUV when there is really only 4 in your party?

If you plan to fly as your mean of transportation to your destination consider packing light. The more belongings you bring, the more fuel a plane uses to transport you and your luggage.

There are many companies that offer services where you don’t have to drive and save help the earth with carbon tracing. USA Vacation Homes & Spa offers in home Spa treatments and a chef of your own so you don’t have to go out and eat.

Find activities that help nature. Orlando has many attractions and places to visit that have taken the green turn such as Universal Studios who has recently announced that they will be going green. Many Disney Hotels such as Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge have already received a Green score (how one contributes to helping the environment). Visiting natural parks and other nature reserves are great to visit especially since Florida wildlife is perfect and it is also a good look at what we might lose if we don’t start to make change when we go home or when you travel.

Passport to Great Weekends in Orlando!

Samantha Brown is searching for hidden gems in Orlando -- the parts most tourists never see. There's more to Orlando than just theme parks, gift shops and chain restaurants. This weekend Sam's exploring real neighborhoods, meeting real locals and discovering real grown-up things to do, including the great shopping and dining district of Winter Park, the downtown art-scene and a fantastic soul food eatery.

On this episode Samantha visits a wine shoppe in Winter Park, that has the largest wine selection in the whole world. The old world Tuscan stonework decor and modern day wine dispensers draped in stainless steel, make for the perfect blend of old meets new. On Saturday morning you are more than welcome to visit the Winter Park farmer's market and sample the local flavor.

Speaking of local flavor, enjoy the segment showcasing the Johnson diner Soul Food restaurant. If you are coming into town from other parts of the country it is important, or familiar with real down-home southern cooking, Johnson's Diner is for you.

The City Arts Factory is a place downtown that is showcased where you can find a great piece of art for the home and make some on your own!

Stay with us and let Orlando show you how amazing it can be.

Airline Travel Made Easier

Traveling these days, especially when flying, is a lot different from just a couple of years ago. There is some good news that will help ease the stress that sometimes accompanies airline travel. The Department of Homeland Security unveiled measures aimed at easing the aggravation associated with air travel, including new screening machines, clearer standards for identification, so Grandma is less likely to confused for a terrorist in this year's trip to Orlando.

Michael Chertoff, the Homeland Security secretary, said the measures aim "to take security to a new level, but also to take convenience to a new level, to eliminate some of the persistent irritations that are a constant source of complaint."

Where new "millimeter wave" scanners are part of a system the department calls Checkpoint Evolution.

"Another thing the checkpoint uses is whole-body imaging. ... This technology allows us to detect any item concealed in a person's body," Chertoff said.

The scanners clearly reveal all the contours of a person's body through clothing. This is the most controversial tools of the three because an image of the semi-nude bodies is visible to complete strangers, but the TSA and Department of Homeland security both believe that having the security personnel, faces scrambled, and images in another room circumvents the concern.

The department also announced standard criteria for accepting passenger identification: "Beginning May 26, 2008, federal or state-issued photo ID will be accepted if it contains: name, date of birth, gender, expiration date and a tamper-resistant feature."

There also new steps in place to solve the problem of someone having the same name as those on the "watchlist"

Now that you've learned that it is even easier to getaway from it all, now is the time to book that flight and come on down to Florida!

Blizzard Beach Summer Fun

Nothing like a bright sunny day with fun filled day planned at the water park. The Orlando area offers three major water parks that are sure to keep everyone wet and wanting more! We've got one for you that you are sure to like!

Blizzard Beach is regarded as one of the best water parks that Orlando has to offer. It is located at the World Famous Disney World Resort and is jammed packed with water fun.

The Summit Plummet is a extreme water ride where you can reach speeds up to 65 miles per hour by dropping straight down 120ft. From the top of the Summit Plummet you can see a view like none other with all 4 Disney Parks, the Sky Coaster in Old Town.

For the less adventurous of us there is the Slush Gusher, which will still take you up to speeds of 35 miles per hour, and will have you catching air on both humps.

Don't feel like climbing the stairs all the way to the top of the mountain? Take the only Chair Lift in Orlando to the top!

When you want to relax and get some sun go round and round on the lazy river.

Buying the plane tickets is just the beginning to the trip you've dreamed of for so long. Herding through the lines at the airport, through the numerous security check points, hours before your flight; only to have your flight delayed or canceled is an all too common occurrence these days. The Relaxation Vacation is the new way to ensure that the things that challenge the quality of your vacation, don't ruin your vacation. All around the U.S. families are including golf excursions and facials into their vacations. Now you can receive a deep tissue massage after soaking up the sun all day. Couples can enjoy each these soothing and pampered offerings together, building an even stronger bond between the two.

With a Relaxation Vacation the sights and sounds of daily life are drowned away in the indulgence that comes with Spa therapies. There is no guilt involved with giving yourself the gift of a Relaxation Vacation and a little relaxation these days goes a long way!
